Drainage plumber — drain repairs and replacement

Broken, collapsed and root-damaged drains found with a camera, then repaired the way that suits the pipe — relined from the inside or dug out and replaced.

Drainage is the part of plumbing you never see until it fails: the sewer line from the house to the main, and the stormwater lines carrying roof and yard water to the kerb. When one breaks, the symptoms show up somewhere else — a blocked toilet, a smell in the yard, a sunken path, a downpipe overflowing.

Brigs Plumbing is a licensed drainage plumber (QBCC 15161521) covering Brisbane, Redland, Logan, Moreton Bay and Ipswich from a base in Thorneside. Every drain repair starts the same way: find the fault with a camera, then choose the repair that suits what is actually there.

Repair, reline or replace

Clear it when the pipe is sound and the problem was a blockage. See blocked drains.

Reline it when the pipe is cracked or full of roots but still holds its shape, especially under a driveway, slab or garden. See pipe relining.

Dig it up and replace it when a section has collapsed, has sagged into a belly, or is short and shallow enough that digging is the simpler job. The trench is backfilled and the surface reinstated once the new pipe is in.

Questions

Asked often

Drainage is licensed plumbing work in Queensland. Brigs Plumbing holds QBCC licence 15161521 and does drainage alongside general plumbing, so the same person who finds the fault can fix it.

With a camera from an inspection opening. It shows the fault and how far along the line it sits, so only the damaged section is dug up or lined.

Not always. Damaged pipe that still holds its shape can usually be relined from the inside. Digging is for collapsed sections, bad sags, or short shallow runs where it is the simpler job.

Generally the drainage on your property is yours and the main belongs to the water authority. If the camera shows the fault is in the main, that is reported to the authority rather than fixed at your cost.
