That has one practical consequence worth knowing about before you call: the person who looks at the job and gives you a price is the person who then does the work. Nothing is quoted by someone who will never see your house.
Diagnosis first, then a price, then the work. That order matters more than it sounds: a blocked drain and a collapsed drain look identical from the kitchen sink and cost very different amounts to put right, and quoting before looking means guessing in one direction or the other.
You are told what caused the problem as well as what it costs to fix. A repair without an explanation tends to become the same phone call again next season.
